Kayla Gibson,

Kayla Gibson is a doctoral student under the supervision of Dr. Tejal Jakatdar. Kayla earned her Master of Arts degree in Sports Psychology from National University in May 2024, and she is currently working towards a doctorate in clinical psychology with a concentration in integrative health and neuropsychology at National University.

 

Kayla uses a culturally sensitive, strengths-based, and client-centered approach in her clinical work. She emphasizes empathy and empowerment of clients to live a values-enriched life. Prior to beginning graduate school, Kayla provided applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy to children on the autism spectrum. Since beginning graduate school, she has provided solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) to college adults with depression, anxiety, transitional issues, and life stressors such as immigration, financial & housing difficulties, and relationship issues. Kayla has also provided therapy to adolescents in a school setting utilizing an evidence-based approach to play therapy. Kayla has experience with several therapeutic modalities and has consistently gravitated towards cognitive behavioral therapy. Kayla is excited about working with individuals with OCD and related disorders as well as anxiety and mood disorders.

 

On a personal note, Kayla is a dog mom of a Chihuahua Daschund mix named Coco. Kayla loves sports. She loves to bring her southern roots in her home cooking, especially, creole/cajun recipes. She enjoys food, iced oat milk matcha lattes, and traveling with her friends and family.
