Ciera Korte
Doctoral Research Trainee

Ciera is entering the third year of her PhD program. She has a background in creative arts and mental health services. Outside of assisting Dr. Jakatdar’s practice and serving as a therapist trainee in community settings, Ciera researches at the Center for the Study and Treatment of Anxious Youth. She has co-authored several journal articles and abstracts and presented them at the Annual Meeting for American Psychiatric Association in May 2021. In addition, Ciera has experience volunteering as a Child Life Specialist team member, serving as an intern at a behavioral health facility, and as a Crisis Textline counselor. She has also worked with children, adolescents, and young adults as a tutor and dance instructor.

Ciera has a passion for integrated care and evidence-based treatments, including CBT, ERP, and DBT. She believes that therapeutic change occurs in a safe space of warm support, where mental health practitioners and clients can work together to challenge boundaries and push comfort zones. In her clinical training, she strives to empower clients with skills to tolerate emotional distress, reduce psychological pain, and overcome barriers to transformative growth.

Ciera is beginning her dissertation work, examining the efficacy of cognitive behavioral treatment for functional gastrointestinal disorders and comorbid anxiety. Ciera enjoys hiking, travel, art, cooking, baking, reading, and spending time with her two cats in her free time.
